A Imperia Porto Maurizio, in the former General Warehouse in Calata Anselmi, sea and sky come together in one great adventure: the International Naval Museum of Western Liguria and the Planetarium of Imperia.
Two complementary worlds that tell the history of exploration, that oceans and space.

⚓ Naval Museum - The City of Sailors

Imperia boasts a centuries-old seafaring tradition, celebrated through a rich collection of nautical instruments, ship models, uniforms, paintings and historical relics.
A journey through time among sails, maps and legends of the sea.

What to see:

• 🧭 Navigation Toolssextants, compasses, chronometers and antique nautical charts.

• 🚢 Ship models: sailing ships, brigs and merchant ships to scale.

• 🌊 Captains of Cape Hornsection dedicated to sailors who rounded the dreaded Cape Horn, with memories of the 1983 World Congress hosted in Imperia.

Outside, stands the Cape Horn Seafarers' Monument, symbol of the courage of those who braved the world's most dangerous oceans.

🌌 Planetarium - Journey through the Stars

Inaugurated in 2022, during the summer solstice, the Planetarium of Imperia is a technological marvel with full-dome, digital projectors and immersive audio.
With 62 seats and reclining seats, provides a breathtaking experience that turns the sky into a 360° spectacle.

Programming:

• 👧 For Children (6-12 years): “James and Vladimir discovering shooting stars”, an animated journey between the poles.

• 👨‍👩‍👧 For Families: “Journey through the Solar System” with breathtaking special effects.

• 🌠 For Adults: “Journey through the wonders of the sky” - constellations and astronomical mythology.

• 🔭 Special events: telescope observations, solstices and equinoxes evenings, scientific lectures.

Each show lasts 45-60 minutes and is edited by Antikythera Committee, group of astronomers and popularizers.
